When You hung on the cross
You were thinking of me;
You saw my face
As You hung on that tree.
I can't understand it,
And yet I believe --
When You hung on the cross
You were thinking of me.
When You died on the cross
You were dying for me;
You paid sin's price
So that I could go free.
I don't understand it,
And yet I believe --
When You died on the cross
You were dying for me.

But God demonstrates His own love
toward us, in that while we were
still sinners, Christ died for us.
