You're the story behind the song,
You're the reason my heart sings;
Each day I stand in awe, Lord,
Of the price You paid for me.
The song is written on my heart,
But I've no cause to boast;
This song I sing is just for You,
And You supply each note.
You've taught me how to hold the notes,
And when I need to rest;
Though I may sing off key at times,
I'll be singing it with my last breath.
This song gets sweeter every day,
But only by Your grace;
I yearn for that glorious day,
When I can sing it to You face to face.
You're the story behind the song, Lord,
It's You I long to please;
So I'm trusting You for every beat,
As You write the rest of the melody.

And they sang a new song, saying: "You
are worthy to take the scroll, And to open
its seals; For You were slain, And have
redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people
and nation." (Revelation 5:9)
